This Privacy Policy describes how PrivateWhisper handles personal data.
PrivateWhisper is designed as a fully offline macOS transcription application.
In short: We do not collect, store, or access your audio, transcripts, or any personal content.
2. Local Processing Only
All transcription, model execution, and audio processing happen entirely on your device.
No audio files, transcripts, or model data are uploaded or transmitted to any server.
The developer does not have access to your files or the content you process in the app.
3. External Model Downloads (Hugging Face)
PrivateWhisper may download transcription models from Hugging Face when the user chooses to install them.
These requests are standard file downloads and do not include personal data.
No information about your audio, transcripts, or device is shared with Hugging Face.
4. No Data Collection
PrivateWhisper does not:
- collect personal data
- collect audio or text
- create user profiles
- track app usage
- use analytics tools
- use third-party SDKs
- transmit information to external servers
The app works locally and offline by design.
5. Licensing or Activation Checks
If licensing or activation checks are implemented, they may involve sending non-personal technical information (e.g., license key status) to a server or licensing service.
These checks do not include audio, transcripts, or any content you process in the app.
6. Purchases Through Gumroad
If you purchase PrivateWhisper through Gumroad, Gumroad collects and processes:
- your email address
- payment information
- purchase details
Gumroad is the data controller for these actions and handles all GDPR-related obligations for the transaction.
The developer may receive your email address from Gumroad solely for:
- sending updates,
- providing support,
- confirming your license.
This email is not shared with third parties and can be deleted on request.

7. Your Rights
If you request deletion, correction, or access to the limited data we hold (typically only your email), contact us and we will process your request unless retention is required by law.
8. Children
PrivateWhisper is not intended for children under 16. The app collects no personal data, but purchases must be made by adults or with parental consent.

The Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally. The latest version will always be posted at the same link.
